Do Endless Pools really work?

Yes,  they work extremely well.
When you first swim in an Endless pool it seems a little strange as you get accustomed to "swimming on the spot"  and become confident that the current will hold you in place, and that you are not going to zoom of up the pool and bump your head on the other end.  After a few minutes this passes and you will find a comfortable speed at which you can swim or exercise and never reach the other end of the Endless Pool.
At first you will usually find that you have to swim at a slower speed than you thought you could manage, primarily because you don't get that rest every lap , that you do when turning in a conventional pool.

The best way to find this out is to try an Endless Pool and prove it to yourself.

Where can I try an Endless Pool?

Endless Pools are sold factory direct worldwide, they do not use local distributors. However they have a wide network of demonstration pools across the UK where you can take a swim and try a pool for yourself.
If you would like to discuss the possibility of visiting one of our demonstration pools contact us or your design rep at Endless Pools.

What do you think of Endless Pools as a product?

Pool Installers are in a unique position to see all the before and after stages of Endless Pool ownership.  From our experience of dealing with Endless Pool's customers face to face , whether this is from a pre-sale site survey to asses the suitability of the customers pool site and project scope , installing the pool, or performing scheduled maintenance and repairs. We can see how the pools match up to customers initial expectations and more importantly, in the longer term once the novelty factor of the pool has worn off.
In addition to this as a proactive swimming pool company with easy access to the latest products available we continually asses the latest developments evaluating whether they offer a real value proposition to customers. To date we would not waver in recommending an Endless Pool.  In terms of value for money, durability and the swimming experience an Endless Pool offers everything that most customers need. Again our best advice is go and try one for yourself.

Have you met the guys ( and girls) at Endless Pools? ... what are they really like?

You will probably only speak to a few of the frontline people at Endless Pools in your dealings with them , we have met all of these people both in Philadelphia at the Endless Pools factory and often here in the UK, ( where we have tried to explain the British way of things to them) And yes they like all the directors and managers are all very nice as you would expect for a customer contact role.
However in addition we have also met the behind the scenes people, the techies, R&D, the factory team, the guys in shipping, been out in the field ( in the usa) with their engineers ...etc and had dealings with them for many years.  What is most noticeable is that they all  have a belief and passion for their product and really know what they are talking about.

I have been impressed by the pre sales service from at Endless Pools, does this continue after they have my money?

This is partly answered by the above question, in it is the people and their commitment to their product that is impressive and partly the American ideal of service. Which can be very different from what we in the UK are used to.
The service levels don't diminish after they have your order, you will still have ongoing contact and receive advice and updates throughout the ownership of you pool.

Is a standard size Endless Pool really big enough to swim in?

For most people the standard pool is fine.
However If you have a exceptionally wide swimming stroke , e.g. butterfly, you may find that a wider pool may suit you. If you find you are concerned about bumping your feet on the back bench when swimming this is usually because you are swimming to far back in the pool, which is easily sorted by moving forward, or you may be swimming with your head sticking right up, which will naturally push your feet down. This can easily be sorted with a snorkel, which will bring your feet up as your head goes down into a "better " position.  Or you could just add a bit to the pool length.
Again however the best way is to go and try one for yourself.

I had a swim in  a swim spa before and found that awkward to swim in, Is it easy to swim in an Endless Pool?

By their nature some swim spas tend to be turbulent and choppy, especially just in front of the jets, and whilst they are the perfect product for many people , who may want to combine fun swimming with a spa . Our feedback from customers who have tried swim spas is, that compared to the endless pool "the swim spa was awkward to swim in" and that they didn't offer the versatility or smooth water delivery of an Endless pool.
Our recommendation is go and try both and see for yourself, perhaps trying the endless pool first ( which will have no sales people around ) so you don't get caught by an eager spa sales person offering deal of the day if you sign before you get dried.

What options should I consider for my Endless pool?

Consider all the options, however the only one that we recommend that you really need is the retractable security cover.  For pool safety and to help prevent heat loss and humidity from your pool.

How durable is the Endless pool?

As with everything you have to take care of your pool and there is a maintenance schedule you should follow.  All pools , not just Endless pools should be inspected regularly so as to prevent any problems and far more importantly for safety.
However we were recently asked to perform some programmed maintenance on one of the early UK Endless Pools. On site when we asked about previous service history as there were no record for this,  we were met with a quizzical look from the customer who told us it was fine, they had changed the filter religiously every year for the last 13 years.  It turned out the programmed maintenance was between 7 to 10 years overdue , not to be recommended! we showed the customer how and when to clean his more regularly filter regularly and after a quick bit of work the pool was refilled and fired up as good as new.

What goes wrong with an Endless pool?

On the whole there is not a lot that goes wrong with Endless Pools , and if you are unlucky enough to have a problem it is usually a "D.O.A." part that is discovered during the installation of your pool ,which is quickly sorted from spare stock.  Aside from this most of our calls for help are in the first months of pool ownership and are sorted on the phone in minutes.
Call outs are for other reasons are few and far between but used to include damaged front grills, caused by children, allegedly,  pushing off the grill to go whizzing down the pool with the current! But this grill design has been changed and they are now more durable.  and the odd rescue of an Action man, Barbie or swim goggles wrapped round the propeller. Again the pool design has been modified to make this less likely.

In your experience what should I know about Endless pools that I might not think to ask, or might not be told?

There isn't really anything that you should worry about not knowing, or not being told by Endless pools. After a few years they have managed to get their heads around our tax system and details of the VAT and import duty and these are on their website and forms , just remember that you have to budget for it when the pool arrives in the UK.
And remember to cover the wooden pool crate with a tarpaulin to keep the content dry if it is to sit outside when delivered, before being installed.

Can more than one person swim in the current at once?

A standard pool is only for one person to swim at a time, there is a dual propulsion endless pool system which allows two people to swim beside each other at the same time, each with an independently controlled swim current.

Can I use the Endless Pool as a hot tub?

The Endless pool is meant for swimming and water based exercise or hydrotherapy, and whilst it can be heated up to hot tub temperatures it is not generally advisable to exercise in water this hot.  Also consider that the pool would take several days to drop back down to a more comfortable swimming or exercising temperature and that running you pool this hot may affect your liner warranty.  Pool Installers can supply you with an economy portable range of hot tubs that can sit alongside your pool , allowing you the best of both worlds, contact us for further details.
